UFC Fight Night 46 results: Ilir Latifi shuts down Chris Dempsey in first

DUBLIN – Chris Dempsey took his UFC debut against Ilir Latifi on short notice. Latifi took that as a cue to put Dempsey away quickly on Saturday.

Latifi (9-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) tore through Dempsey (10-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) for a first-round TKO, getting the stoppage at the 2:07 mark of the fight.

The light heavyweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 46 preliminary card at The O2 in Dublin. The entire event streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

Latifi landed a right early, but Dempsey seemed to walk through it. He tried to get inside to fire back some punches of his own, but Latifi shrugged him away.

Latifi went to work with leg kicks, and they appeared to be doing early damage, slowing Dempsey down. Then he dropped Dempsey with a right hand, landed another, and after one punch on the ground, Dempsey was done.

Latin did a rather interesting backflip and landed on his side in the center of the octagon to celebrate before going to check on Dempsey.

“Every fight, I prepare for three rounds, for a war. But it’s nice when you win fast,” Latifi said. “Last time, I won by submission and I didn’t have time to show my strikes. So this time, I wanted to show the Irish people my striking.”
