ATLANTIC CITY – Yosdenis Cedeno (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) gave short-notice injury replacement Jerrod Sanders (14-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) a rude welcome to the UFC.

Cedeno knocked Sanders to the mat in the opening round and roughed up the newcomer on the mat. But it was a leg kick early in the frame that ultimately led to the fight’s end.

The lightweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 45 preliminary card at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following a single prelim on UFC Fight Pass.

A hobbled Sanders was unable to continue for the second round, and Cedeno was ruled the winner by TKO due to the injury, giving him his first win in the octagon following a split-decision loss to Ernest Chavez in his debut.

Sanders, who replaced an injured Leo Kuntz, was able to survive after a right hand floored him, but he was unable to do much from his back due to the damage to his left leg from the kick.

At the conclusion of the round, he limped back to his corner and was given a stool. After a short check by cageside officials, the fight was waved off.

Sanders, a former FedEX maintenance technician who usually fights at featherweight, sees a 12-fight regional winning streak snapped.
