UFC Fight Night 37 results: Louis Gaudinot makes quick work of Phil Harris

LONDON – Louis Gaudinot couldn’t have asked for a much better night against Englishman Phil Harris, needing just 73 seconds to score a submission win.

The flyweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 37 event at O2 Arena in London. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

The pair started quickly, both looking to strike before Harris pushed in for the fight’s first takedown. Unfortunately for him, Gaudinot felt it coming, locked in a guillotine choke and dropped to the floor. A quick roll to the top was all she wrote, and Harris was forced to tap from the hold just 73 seconds into the fight.

“I always look to finish, and I immediately saw an opening and went for the choke,” Gaudinot said after the win. “My camp and I knew that he didn’t want anything to do with a standup war, and he tried to take me down but I was prepared. That was a performance I knew I was capable of.”

With the win, Gaudinot (7-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) rebounds from a disappointing August loss to Tim Elliott.

Meanwhile, Harris (22-12 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has just one win in four UFC appearances and could be facing a release from the promotion.

“I left my neck open and paid the price obviously,” Harris conceded.
