Nick Ring vs. Caio Magalhaes

Round 1: They touch gloves.  They both miss with kicks.  Magalhaes lands to the body with a kick.  Ring answers with one of his own.  Magalhaes was accidentally poked in the eye.  After giving him time to recover, the fight was restarted.  Ring inches forward behind his jab.  Magalhaes misses with a big right  hand.  Ring closes the distance and initiaties the clinch.  He lands a knee to the body. Magalhaes pushes him away and lands a knee to the body followed by an outside leg kick.  Magalhaes changes levels and works to get the fight to the ground.  Magalhaes sprawls and they work for position inside the clinch.  Ring lands knees to the body.  He lands short elbows.  Ring secures a single leg takedown.  He works in half guard.  Magalhaes scrambles back to his feet.  Ring presses him against the cage.  They separate. Ring looks to get the fight to the ground and does.  Magalhaes stands and they separate.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Ring.

Round 2: Ring and Magalhaes hit the mat, Ring scoring a takedown, quickly getting into side control, attacking the arm, but can’t get the submission. Ring lands a few punches to the face, but Magalhaes reverses into Ring’s full guard. Magalhaes staying tight, working some ground and pound, but Ring is firing from his back. Magalhaes keeps busy, trying to pass, but then settles back into guard and lands some more ground and pound punches, alternating between body and head. Ring lands a few elbows from his back and does a good job blocking Magalhaes’ pass attempts. Ring tries to find the triangle choke, but can’t get it and the round ends with Magalhaes landing ground and pound from inside Ring’s full guard.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Magalhaes.

Round 3: Both fighters a bit flat-footed to start the final round.  Magalhaes lands an outside leg kick.  Magalhaes steps in with a right hand.  Ring answers with a hard outside leg kick.  Magalhaes lands a clean combination and Ring quickly tries to get the fight to the ground.  He pulls guard.  Magalhaes delivers right hands.  The referee stands them up in quick fashion.  Ring immediately works for a takedown.  Magalhaes defends the attempt.  Two minutes remain in the round.  Magalhaes lands a knee to the body as Ring works to secures a single leg takedown.  Magalhaes lands to both side of the body.  The referee stands them up again.  Ring quickly goes for a single leg takedown.  Magalhaes defends and lands to the body.  He lands hammer fists.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Magalhaes.

The judges scored the fight for Magalhaes by unanimous decision.  All three scorecards read 29-28.
