UFC Fight Night 29 drug tests come back clean

jake-shields-demian-maia.jpgDrug tests at UFC Fight Night 29 came back clean, according to the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA), which oversaw the event.

CABMMA officials told MMAjunkie.com that all fighters who competed on the card were tested for performance-enhancers, drugs of abuse and masking agents, and that all results came back negative.

UFC Fight Night 29 took place Oct. 9 Jose Correa Arena in the Brazilian city of Barueri. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on the same channel.

In the night’s main event, former Strikeforce welterweight champion Jake Shields upset Demian Maia and snapped the Brazilian’s unbeaten streak in the weight class when he took a close split decision. Thanks to the win, Shields moved up to Honorable Mention and Maia dropped down a spot to No. 8 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA welterweight rankings.

The co-main event had no controversy, though. Dong Hyun Kim brutally knocked out Erick Silva, stunning the Brazilian fans. Kim shot up to No. 10 in the recently released new USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA welterweight rankings.

CABMMA is a member commission of the IMMAF, which oversees UFC events in several foreign jurisdictions where an athletic commission doesn’t exist.
