UFC Fight Night 28 drug tests come back clean

ronaldo-jacare-souza-20.jpgDrug tests at UFC Fight Night 28 came back clean, according to the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA), which oversaw the event.

CABMMA’s Caio Lemos told MMAjunkie.com that all fighters who competed on the card were tested for performance-enhancers, drugs of abuse and masking agents, and that all results came back, negative.

UFC Fight Night 28 took place Sept. 4 at Mineirinho Arena in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.

In the night’s main event, light heavyweight Glover Teixeira stopped Ryan Bader in the first round not long after Bader had him in trouble. The TKO win for the Brazilian earned him what was said at the time to be the next shot at the 205-pound title against the winner between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. But with such a closely contested fight between those two this past weekend at UFC 165, there has been talk of a rematch. Jones retained his title in a close unanimous decision.

In the co-main event at UFC Fight Night 28, Ronald Souza stopped Yushin Okami in the first round. “Jacare” stayed unbeaten in the UFC and won for the fifth straight time since losing his Strikeforce middleweight title two years ago. Before that, flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez booked a ticket to another shot at champ Demetrious Johnson when he shut down Jussier Silva in the first. Benavidez and Johnson will headline the TUF 18 Finale on Nov. 30 in Las Vegas.

CABMMA is a member commission of the IMMAF, which oversees UFC events in several foreign jurisdictions where an athletic commission doesn’t exist.
