UFC Fight Night 27 results: Brandon Thatch makes quick work of Justin Edwards

INDIANAPOLIS – Brandon Thatch entered his bout with Justin Edwards with an impressive amount of hype. After 83 seconds of pure offense, it appears the talk was all justified.

Thatch assaulted Edwards from the opening bell, delivering a barrage of punches and knees that earned him a first-round TKO win in his UFC debut.

The welterweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 27 event at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on Facebook and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1.

As expected, Edwards pushed forward from the start. But Thatch was happy to return fire, and an early high kick rocked his opponent. Edwards scrambled back to his feet, but Thatch kept the pressure high with knees and punches, and he continued to land with both.

As the assault continued, Edwards again crashed to the floor, and Thatch pounced with punches. Referee Rob Hinds gave Edwards a few warnings before stepping in at the 1:23 mark of the first frame.

Thatch (10-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) now owns a nine-fight win streak. Edwards (8-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has now alternated wins and losses in his five UFC appearances.
