UFC 196 results: Teruto Ishihara crushes Julian Erosa in impressive performance

LAS VEGAS – Teruto Ishihara had very little trouble with the long limbs of Julian Erosa at UFC 196, scoring a dominant second round TKO for his first win in the octagon.

The featherweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC 196 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims on FOX Sports 1 and a main card on pay-per-view.

Ishihara (8-2-2 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) came out very aggressive to start the fight, to the point where he seemed unable to keep his footing while moving around the octagon. Once he settled down, Ishihara began landing heavy leg kicks while Erosa (15-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) failed on several takedown attempts.

While the length of the 6’1? Erosa could have been a major factor, Ishihara was able to slip punches and land his own counters. Erosa managed to score a takedown at the end of the opening frame, but had no time to do anything effective before time ran out.

Early in Round 2, Ishihara connected with a big left hook that put Erosa on the floor. A flurry of hammerfists later and the referee was forced to call a halt to the bout at the 0:34 mark of Round 2.

Ishihara battled to a draw with Mizuto Hirota in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 75. The loss snapped a five-fight winning streak for Erosa.
