UFC 182 results: Paul Felder crushes Danny Castillo via vicious spinning back fist

LAS VEGAS – For the first five minutes of his bout with Danny Castillo, Paul Felder looked impressive. For the final few seconds of it, he looked downright scary.

A spinning backfist from Felder (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) caught Castillo (17-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) squarely as he charged in with a punch combo, and the result was an instant knockout in a dramatic knockout finish at the 2:09 mark of Round 2.

The lightweight fight was part of today’s UFC 182 event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following earlier prelims on UFC Fight Pass and prior to the pay-per-view main card.

Felder seemed to be in control of this fight from the opening moments, thanks to a diverse and effective striking attack that kept Castillo at bay and off-balance for the entirety of the first round.

In the second, Castillo attempted to up the pressure, but Felder easily shrugged off one takedown attempt and continued to use body kicks and sneaky knees to hurt Castillo on his way in.

But where things went from bad to worse for Castillo was when he pressed forward with an aggressive punch combo that Felder met with a well-timed spinning backfist, catching Castillo cleanly and dropping him to the mat, limbs stiffened out in front of him. From there Felder dove in to deliver a couple more entirely unnecessary blows, none of which Castillo was in any position to notice just then. After that performance, however, you can bet a lot of other UFC lightweights are noticing Felder.

The win makes it two in a row in the UFC for Felder, who remains perfect as a professional. Castillo has now lost two straight.
