UFC 170 Weigh-In Results: Ronda Rousey, Sara McMann Hit Marks for Main Event

Two unique obstacles await Ronda Rousey: a quick turnaround and a fellow Olympic medalist.

Rousey tipped the scales at 135 pounds, as she prepares to defend her Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight crown against Sara McMann (135) in the UFC 170 main event on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Light heavyweight co-headliners Daniel Cormier (205) and Patrick Cummins (205) also met their contracted weight requirements at Friday’s official weigh-in.

A bronze medalist in judo at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Rousey has emerged as one of MMA’s most bankable superstars. The 27-year-old Californian has submitted all eight of her opponents with armbars, seven of them inside one round. She last appeared at UFC 168 in December, when she dispatched archrival Miesha Tate with a third-round armbar at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Rousey has compiled a 2-0 record since arriving in the UFC a year ago.

McMann made her Octagon debut at UFC 159 in April, when she stopped Sheila Gaff on first-round punches at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The 33-year-old Takoma Park, Md., native captured a silver medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Having successfully transitioned to mixed martial arts, the unbeaten McMann has secured four of her seven victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

UFC 170 “Rousey vs. McMann” -- which airs live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT -- will also feature three welterweight battles, as Demian Maia (170) meets Tristar Gym export Rory MacDonald (171), former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Mike Pyle (171) faces T.J. Waldburger (171) and “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” winner Robert Whittaker (170) confronts Stephen Thompson (170.5).

Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will carry four preliminary matchups: Alexis Davis (135) vs. Jessica Eye (136), Raphael Assuncao (136) vs. Pedro Munhoz (135), Aljamain Sterling (135.5) vs. Cody Gibson (135.5) and Zach Makovsky (125) vs. Joshua Sampo (126). The two remaining undercard bouts will stream on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, as Erik Koch (155) collides with Rafaello Oliveira (155) and Ernest Chavez (156) locks horns with Yosdenis Cedeno (155.5).
