UFC 167 Medical Suspensions: Johny Hendricks, Three Others, Could Be Sidelined for Six Months

Many fans and pundits felt he hadn’t earned the split-decision nod that he got over Johny Hendricks, and then, after the fight, he declared he needed to “step away for a little bit,” without clarifying if that meant retirement.

It was a rough fight that earned St-Pierre a 45-day medical suspension, while Hendricks could be sidelined for as much as six months due to concerns over his right knee.

Ali Bagautinov, Gian Villante, and Cody Donovan also face a potential six-month forced benching pending medical clearance for various concerns.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released the UFC 167 medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com. UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks took place on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Georges St-Pierre is suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 17.

Johny Hendricks must get orthopedic clearance on his right knee or he is suspended until May 17, 2014. He faces a minimum suspension until Dec. 17, with no contact prior to Dec. 8.

Chael Sonnen is suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 17.

Rory MacDonald is suspended until Dec. 17, with no contact prior to Dec. 8.

Josh Koscheck is suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 17.

Ali Bagautinov must get orthopedic clearance on his left foot or he is suspended until May 17, 2014. He faces a minimum suspension until Dec. 17, with no contact prior to Dec. 8.

Evan Dunham is suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 17, due to a left eyebrow laceration.

Rick Story is suspended until Jan. 1, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 17, due to a left eyebrow laceration.

Erik Perez is suspended until Dec. 17 with no contact prior to Dec. 8, due to a laceration on the bridge of his nose.

Gian Villante must get orthopedic clearance on both hands or he is suspended until May 17, 2014.

Cody Donovan must get his right hand x-rayed and get clearance by an orthopedic doctor or he is suspended until May 17, 2014. He faces a minimum suspension until Dec. 17 with no contact prior to Dec. 8.
