UFC 164 results and photos: Tim Elliott dominates Louis Gaudinot

MILWAUKEE – No matter what Louis Gaudinot tried, Tim Elliott had an answer for it.

From the feet to the floor, the bearded Elliott dominated the green-haired Gaudinot, winning every round on all three judges’ scorecards en route to unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-26, 30-26).

The flyweight bout was part of today’s UFC 164 event at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on Facebook and ahead of a main card on pay-per-view.

Elliott’s strength (along with his beard) was the true star of this fight. He used an innovative striking attack to put Gaudinot on the defensive, then routinely planted him on the mat and mauled him from the top.

Any attempt by Gaudinot to get back to his feet was swiftly thwarted, and by the end Elliott was still bouncing around in the center of the cage, awaiting word from the judges to tell him what an arena full of people already knew.

“I’m glad I got the win, but I’ve still got a lot to improve on,” Elliott said. “My game plan was to stay on him, move him around a little, pin him against the cage and just grind away, but he was a lot stronger than I thought he was going to be. He made me pay for that a few times during the fight with his strikes. But a win is a win, and I’d really like to see if I can get someone like (John) Lineker or (Ian) McCall next to really get myself into the top tier of our division.”

Elliott (10-3-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has now won two straight in the UFC, following up on his decision win over Jared Papazian in December. Gaudinot (6-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) suffers his first defeat since a TKO loss to Johnny Bedford in December of 2011.
