01-Aldo

Jose Aldo vs. Chan Sung Jung

Round 1: Neither fighter is quick to engage, trying to find their timing in the center of the cage. Aldo lands first with an overhand right off of a combination. Both men settle back into a dancing rhythm, looking for openings, but neither finding them. Aldo feints a punch combination, landing one of his thunderous leg kicks. Jung fires back with his own leg kick, but not with the same authority as Aldo. Aldo fakes a combination and scores a takedown, but they immediately return to their feet. Aldo goes big with a spinning wheel kick just before the horn.

Round 2: Jung presses on Aldo, but misses with a front kick. Aldo lands an overhand right and a follow-up left as Jung moves in, but then they slow it down again, both men being very calculated in their attacks. Aldo goes with a strong punch combination to the body. Aldo utilizing his jab a little more; Jung looking much slower in comparison. Jung lands an overhand right, but Aldo clinches and tosses Jung to the mat, landing in Jung’s half guard, but quickly passing to side control. Aldo lands a couple elbows, but quickly puts Aldo in his full guard to finish the round.

Round 3: Jung launches a jumping knee, but gets caught mid-air and slammed to the mat by Aldo, but Jung quickly works back to his feet, Aldo pressing him to the fence. Aldo trips Jung back to the mat, keeping him against the fence, but with no meaningful offense, the ref stands them back up. Jung presses in firing off an uppercut. Aldo shoots for the takedown, eating a knee on the way in. He doesn’t get the takedown, but presses Jung to the fence, Jung trying to find a choke, but neither finding much offense, so again they are restarted. Jung starts swinging and launches another flying knee, but Aldo catches it again and puts the fight back on the mat before the final horn.

Round 4: Jung steps up his pace and starts firing off punches from the opening of the round, but then settles back a little bit after not landing much. Aldo fires at Jung, who cringes with his right shoulder, which appears to be injured. Aldo notices the injury – what looks to be a separated shoulder – and swarms him, driving him to the mat and finishing him off with a furious flurry of punches for the TKO stoppage.
