Official fighter weigh-ins for next month’s “UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman” are slated for Friday, July 5 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The nearby MGM Grand Garden Arena then hosts the following night’s pay-per-view event, which features middleweight champion Anderson Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC) defending his title against top contender Chris Weidman (9-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in the evening’s main event.
The first fighter steps on the scale at 4 p.m. PT local time (7 p.m. ET), and doors open to the public one hour earlier. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The UFC’s Sin City events generally see weigh-ins take place in the same venue as the following night’s fights, but with Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino hosting the UFC Fan Expo, UFC officials have elected to host the weigh-ins in the same building to make it easier for fans to attend both events.
In addition to the night’s headliner, the evening’s lineup also includes a featherweight bout between former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (15-4-1 MMA, 9-4-1 UFC) and Charles Oliveira (16-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC), the UFC debuts of former Strikeforce middleweights Roger Gracie (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) vs. Tim Kennedy (15-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC), a key featherweight matchup of Dennis Siver (21-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) vs. Cub Swanson (19-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and a middleweight bout between Tim Boetsch (16-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Mark Munoz (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC).
