UFC 162 draws reported 12,399 attendance and $4.862 million live gate

mgm-grand-garden-arena-2.jpgLAS VEGAS – Saturday’s UFC 162 event drew an announced attendance of 12,399 and a live gate of $4.862 million.

UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended.

UFC 162 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. In the headliner, Chris Weidman upset longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva to become the new middleweight champion. Weidman knocked Silva out in the second round – after Silva taunted him and toyed with him.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission will announce official attendance and gate figures in the coming week. But for now, the live gate total is the third highest UFC gate in MGM Grand Garden Arena history.

The UFC’s previous event at MGM Grand, UFC 160, drew 12,380 attendees for a $2,942,365 gate.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena’s all-time top UFC gates, as compiled by MMAjunkie.com, include:
