UFC 159 finalized with FX and Facebook cards, Perez-Bedford in featured prelim

erik-perez-1.jpgThe lineup is set for this month’s “UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen” event following the finalization of the FX and Facebook preliminary cards.

Two bantamweights unbeaten in the UFC, Johnny Bedford (19-9-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Erik Perez (13-4 MMA, 3-0 UFC), will fight in the night’s featured FX-televised prelim.

UFC 159 takes place April 27 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The pay-per-view main card features light heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen.

The 13-bout lineup includes four fights on FX and four bouts on Facebook.

erez, a Mexican fighter now based out of Team Jackson-Winkeljohn, is riding an eight-fight win streak. After wins over James Brum and Paul McVeigh for the BAMMA promotion, he joined the UFC and has posted first-round stoppage victories over John Albert, Ken Stone and Byron Bloodworth.

Bedford, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 14,” has posted back-to-back knockout wins over Louis Gaudinot and Marcos Vinicius since his time on the show. He now owns 15 stoppages in 19 career wins. The former NCAA Division I wrestler and Fitness Fight Factory team member is 8-1 over his past nine fights.

In addition to Bedford vs. Perez, the FX portion of the event also features the UFC’s third women’s bout as 135-pounder Sheila Gaff (10-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) meets Olympic wrestling medalist Sara McMann (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

The official UFC 159 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX, 8 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 6 p.m. ET)
