'UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen' live and official weigh-in results

michael-bisping-alan-belcher.jpgNEWARK, N.J. – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene and reporting live from today’s official UFC 159 fighter weigh-ins, where 23 of the 24 fighters scheduled made weight without issue.

The festivities took place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and headliners Jon Jones (205) and Chael Sonnen (205) each registered right on the light-heavyweight limit.

The challenger, who has been largely respectful in the buildup to the event, took to the mic to deliver his intentions to shock the world.

“You’re going to tell your kids’ kids’ kids that he was real,” Sonnen said. “He existed. the myth of Chael Sonnen stood before us, he brought down the hometown hero, and when it was all said and done, it was one more in the record books, one more in the win column and one more for the bad guy.”

Meanwhile, the champion, who tossed a pair of his new Nike signature shoes into the audience on his way to the stage, was a little more restrained.

“I’m here to conquer,” Jones said. “I’m here to be courageous. That’s about it.”

The night’s co-feature contestants (unsurprisingly) quarreled during their time on the stage. Both Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher had tense words during their staredown before “The Talent” gave “The Count” a slight shove in the chest. UFC President Dana White quickly separated the two before it got out of hand.

Only prelim fighter Nick Catone failed to make weight. He registered 173 pounds for his welterweight fight with James Head. Catone will be fined 20 percent of his purse, but the bout will go on as scheduled.

The official UFC 159 weigh-in results include:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX, 8 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 6:30 p.m. ET)

* – Catone has been fined 20 percent of his purse, but the fight will go on as scheduled
