UFC logoThe UFC 159 fight card grew again when the promotion added a lightweight bout between Rustam Khabilov and Yancy Medeiros.

UFC officials announced the bout on Friday via Twitter.

The fight will be Khabilov’s second start in the Octagon. He debuted with a TKO stoppage of Vince Pichel at the TUF 16 Finale, when he suplexed Pichel and then finished him off with punches.

Khabilov’s will put his 15-1 overall record up against Medeiros’ undefeated 9-0 mark.

Medeiros makes his Octagon debut two and a half years after his last fight. He last defeated Gareth Joseph on the undercard of the Fedor vs. Werdum fight card in June 2010.

It’s interesting to note that Medeiros used some of that time out of the cage to shed a few pounds… quite a few. He last competed at middleweight, but will face Khabilov 30 pounds lighter.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones puts his belt on the line against Chael Sonnen in the UFC 159 main event on April 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
