UFC 153 LogoBrazilian fighter Geronimo dos Santos has been forced off of the UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar fight card. UFC officials announced the fighters withdrawal on Thursday, although they did not specify the reason why.

Fighting his way up the ranks on the Brazilian circuit for many years, dos Santos was to have made his Octagon debut against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 153 on Oct. 13 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

Having mixed results in his early career, dos Santos has been rather busy over the past couple years, fighting 14 times in that two-year span.

He is 13-1 during that time, including winning his last 12 fights, propelling him to his shot in the UFC.

The Brazilian is an explosive fighter with knockout power, but he’ll have to wait a little bit longer to show it in the Octagon.

It was unknown at the time of publication whether or not the UFC would be able to secure a new UFC 153 opponent for Gonzaga.

Will the fifteenth time be the charm? Alistair Overeem will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon when he faces Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 50, which is scheduled for Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Ledyard, Conn., on Sept. 5, 2014. Overeem -- who is now 100-percent healthy -- recently returned to the win column at UFC 169 with a decision win over Frank Mir after suffering back-to-back losses to Antonio Silva and Travis Browne in 2013. There are far bigger, more relevant fighters to main event a mixed martial arts card than James Te Huna and Nate "The Great" Marquardt. However, when it comes to sheer desperation, Te Huna and Marquardt should have plenty. Both men are on a losing streak and can ill-afford another loss. That dynamic could make the feature bout of UFC Fight Night 43 in New Zealand a smashing affair. This card will be exclusively broadcast Saturday, June 28, on UFC Fight Pass. Click here for details. Whenever Cub Swanson fights, there's a chance for an explosive finish. He won't have to hunt down his opponent on Saturday night, as Jeremy "Lil Heathen" Stephens is never one to back down from a brawl. Swanson has made it clear: He believes he deserves a shot at the title. He has already faced and been knocked out by current champion Jose Aldo, but that was in 2009 when both were in WEC. He wants his crack at the title soon, but Stephens stands in his way. 'Lil Heathen has been up and down over more

The UFC, in its ever-increasing attempts at expanding its brand around the globe, is running a lot of shows. This is an unarguable point. Whether or not you believe it is running too many events comes down to your own personal preference. Some of you can't get enough mixed martial arts, and you'll gladly watch two events in one day (like the UFC has planned for this Saturday). For some of you, two events in a single day—and four events in the span of eight days—is simply too much of a good thing more

The UFC always ups its game for Independence Day weekend. This year is no exception. Despite what seems these days to be the inevitable angel's share—injuries, drug test failures and the dilution of talent because of a new abundance of events—exacting its cut off the top, UFC 175 still looks and feels like a glamorous card. The whole thing goes down Saturday from that little MMA oasis in the desert, Las Vegas. Anchoring the event are two title fights: Chris Weidman defends his middleweight strap more
