UFC 152 Results: Cub Swanson Continues His Reign of Terror with KO Over Charles Oliveira

Cub Swanson is a man with an objective, and his seek and destroy mission didn’t slow down one bit at UFC 152.

In his last two fights, Swanson has plowed through both Ross Pearson and George Roop winning both fights by TKO, but he faced young upstart Charles Oliveira, who has looked just as unstoppable since dropping down to 145lbs.

A striker by trade, Swanson had no problem throwing hands with Oliveira, and it was clear from the very beginning that if the fight stayed on the feet it was playing into the Team Jackson fighter’s strengths.

Swanson threw punches with huge power and connected with a blistering body shot that rattled Oliveira’s midsection.

The young Brazilian tried to shake it off, but clearly his ribs were hurting after Swanson’s powerful shot took its toll. Swanson followed up the body shot with a bone rattling right hand that cracked Oliveira on the side of his face.

Oliveira backed away, winced in pain as he blinked his eye, and then fell to the mat in obvious pain as the referee swooped in to stop the fight.

“My coaches had a lot of confidence in my power and tell me if I just land that one big punch, they’re going down for sure,” Swanson said after the victory.

It was unclear which shot did the most damage, but from the way Oliveira was blinking after the punch to the eye, it may have been a broken orbital bone that stopped his movement after Swanson’s big right hand landed.

Either way, Swanson moves to 3-0 in his last three fights as he makes a major move in the featherweight division rankings.
