UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort Full Weigh-In Results

UFC 152 Jones v Belfort PosterA long road traveled for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones finally reaches its destination as he faces Vitor Belfort at UFC 152, but first both fighters have to hit the scales on Friday.

After the events that led to the cancellation of UFC 151, Jones will finally step into the Octagon and get back to the business of fighting, this time against former champion Vitor Belfort in the UFC’s return to Toronto.

When Jones walked out from behind the curtain he received a loud chorus of boos from the Toronto faithful in attendance.  The champion kept a smile on his face, but the jeers did not let up during the entire time he was on the stage.

“I honestly believe Vitor’s one of the best in the world, as good as it gets,” Jones said as he gave a thumbs up and thumbs down signal to the crowd in attendance, looking for an answer to their rather loud reaction to him.

Belfort was the big winner in this situation as he not only gets a shot at Jones and the UFC light heavyweight title, but his popularity seemed to soar during the weigh-ins. Chants of ‘Vitor’ filled the arena, and he seemed ready to do battle with Jones on Saturday night.

“To be able to fight a guy like Jon Jones in this new era of the sport, the new breed, I’m the old lion, he’s the young lion. Tomorrow we’ve got a jungle in the Octagon,” Belfort stated.

Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson both made weight to make the first ever UFC flyweight title fight official, and Benavidez promised the crowd ‘a night to remember.”

Johnson may have had the best line from the weigh-ins however when he stated “Me and Joseph are going to show you the flyweight division is here to stay in the UFC, and please don’t leave after we get done fighting.”

The best stare down of the afternoon went to middleweights Michael Bisping and Brian Stann who squared off and butted heads after making the middleweight mark. Bisping continued to shout at Stann as both competitors smiled and shook hands before leaving the stage.

The only missed weight from Friday was featherweight Charles Oliveira, who came in .4 pounds over the 146lb allowance for his bout with Cub Swanson. It appeared at the weigh-ins that Swanson and Oliveira agreed to meet despite the slight overage in weight, but UFC officials have yet to comment on the situation.
