Promotion officials revealed that verbal agreements are in place for the contest, which takes place Aug. 11 at Denver’s Pepsi Center and airs live on pay-per-view. The event will be headlined by a lightweight title rematch between reigning king Benson Henderson and ex-champion Frankie Edgar.
Camozzi enters the contest riding back-to-back victories, having submitted Dustin Jacoby with a third-round guillotine choke in January before badly lacerating Nick Catone en route to a doctor’s stoppage at UFC on FX 4 last month. The six-time UFC veteran has finished 11 of his 17 career victims and has not been knocked out in nearly six years as a pro.
Roberts, 29, rides a six-fight winning streak into his clash with Camozzi. The Jackson’s MMA representative made his first promotional foray June 8 at UFC on FX 3, when he took a unanimous decision from fellow Octagon debutant Caio Magalhaes. The twice-beaten middleweight has not lost since 2009 and owns five submission wins to his credit, though his last three fights have all gone the distance.
