Tyson Griffin

A featherweight bout pitting Tyson Griffin and fellow former lightweight fighter Bart Palszewski is on tap for UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Diaz in Las Vegas.

The bout, first reported by MMAJunkie.com, has been independently confirmed by MMAWeekly.com sources. The UFC later posted the fight on its website.

Griffin (15-5) is coming off of a victory over Manny Gamburyan at UFC on Versus 4, his first bout at 145 pounds for Zuffa after competing at lightweight for the first part of his tenure with the company. Earlier in his career, Griffin competed at featherweight, defeating Urijah Faber for the Gladiator Challenge championship.

Palaszewski (35-14), a Polish immigrant, will be making his 145-pound debut for the company in the bout against Griffin. It will also be his first time fighting under the UFC brand, having competed most recently in a loss to Kamal Shalorus at WEC 53 in December.

A welterweight showdown between UFC champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz headlines the UFC 137 fight card on Oct. 29 at Mandalay Bay.
