Mike Swick has been out of action for quite some time, but he finally appears ready to step foot back in the Octagon.
He is expected to return against newcomer Erick Silva at UFC 134 on Aug. 27 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. MMAWeekly.com sources on Wednesday confirmed the fight first reported by Sherdog.com.
Swick (14-4) has been sidelined for the last year-and-a-half, dealing with an esophageal condition. He suffered back-to-back losses before his current sabbatical, dropping fights to Paulo Thiago and Dan Hardy.
Silva (11-1) is currently one of the hottest welterweight prospects in Brazil. UFC 134 serves as his launching platform in the Octagon.
A member of the X-Gym, Silva counts Anderson Silva, Rafael Feijao, and Jacare Souza as training partners to counter Swick’s American Kickboxing Academy team that includes training partners like Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, and Cain Velasquez.
Anderson Silva heads the UFC 134 fight card, defending his middleweight championship against top contender Yushin Okami.
