Fighters always have to make sacrifices when it comes to preparing for a fight, especially at the elite level of the UFC’s roster. But UFC featherweight title contender Mark Hominick has taken sacrifice to the extreme.
Not only was Hominick working out on the beach during his honeymoon, he has been preparing for the biggest fight of his life – challenging champion Jose Aldo at Saturday’s UFC 129 in Toronto – while his wife is about to give birth. In fact, their baby is due just days after the fight.
Hominick and his family take it in stride, however, realizing that sometimes that’s what it takes to play the game at such an elite level.
Hominick talked about his wife’s pregnancy, the pressures of fighting before 55,000-plus fans in Toronto, and the importance of his fight with Jose Aldo at Wednesday’s pre-fight press conference.
