UFC 127 Performance Bonuses Net Fighters $75,000 Each

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Sydney, Australia, on Saturday night (Sunday in Sydney) to 18,186 fans.

There were several fighters on the UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch fight card that put on quite a show for the soldout crowd. And several of those fighters will go home with a little extra money in their pockets.

UFC officials handed out $75,000 bonuses for its typical post-fight awards.

Brian Ebersole, transplanted from the U.S. to Sydney, put on an amazing performance, as did his opponent, Chris Lytle. After more than 60 professional fights, it was Ebersole’s first in the Octagon, and Lytle was trying to maintain his momentum towards a title shot.

As it were, the two put on an amazing back and forth battle, Ebersole winning a decision. Both home went home with an extra $75,000, something that isn’t new to Lytle, who has won an inordinate amount of performance bonuses during his UFC tenure.

Aussie Kyle Noke opened the UFC 127 pay-per-view against his “Ultimate Fighter Season 11? castmate Chris Camozzi, and he wasted no time making it exciting. He finished Camozzi by rear naked choke in under two minutes.

Another transplanted Aussie, from neighboring New Zealand, Mark Hunt scored the first win of his UFC career, knocking out Brock Lesnar training partner Chris Tuchscherer in the opening minutes of the second round of their fight. He dropped Tuchscherer twice, the second time with a short uppercut to the chin, earning the knockout of the night bonus.

The UFC handed out a total of $300,000 in announced post-fight performance bonuses at UFC 127.
