Melvin Guillard will lock horns with Bellator Fighting Championships veteran Waylon Lowe in a preliminary lightweight matchup at UFC 114 “Rampage vs. Evans” on May 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The UFC has finalized an 11-bout lineup for the event.
Anchored at Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts in Albuquerque, N.M., the rejuvenated Guillard has posted four wins in five fights. The 27-year-old New Orleans native last appeared in February, when he defeated Ronys Torres by unanimous decision. Spawned by Season 2 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, Guillard holds notable victories against American Top Team’s Gleison Tibau, UFC welterweight mainstay Marcus Davis and former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Gabe Ruediger. In more than 30 professional fights, he has never been knocked out.
Lowe, a late replacement for the injured Thiago Tavares, will carry a six-fight winning streak into his UFC debut. The 28-year-old knocked out UFC veteran Steve Berger in April at King of the Cage “Bad Boys 2” in Detroit. Lowe has secured six of his eight career victories by KO, technical knockout or submission.
A light heavyweight grudge match pairing former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans will headline UFC 114. In the co-feature, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 winner Michael Bisping will toe the line against one-time International Fight League middleweight titleholder Dan Miller.
