Tyson Griffin Sets Up Charitable Event To Benefit Boys Town Nevada Ahead of UFC 137

In advance of his own fight at UFC 137, Las Vegas resident Tyson Griffin has decided to give back to his community with a special giveaway to benefit the Boys Town of Nevada.

The UFC featherweight will be doing a raffle via his website with the grand prize winner getting tickets to UFC 137 as well as attending Griffin’s after party in Las Vegas.

Growing up with the potential of being led down the wrong path himself, Griffin sees a lot of himself in the kids he’s worked with at Boys Town and hopes to be a positive influence to them, and help put them on the right track.

“I could have been in their shoes,” said Griffin. “I had a chance to work with Boys Town a couple of times for the UFC and learning about the kids down there and what their situations were, I could relate. Growing up my parents got locked up and I was in foster care for a little bit and I could really relate to those kids and understand what they’re going through and what the situation is. I was one of those kids back in the day and I just want to really give back based on the situations I came from and help those kids understand that it doesn’t really matter where you come from that you can still come out on top.”

A $25 donation will get an entry into the contest, with the final winner getting the tickets to the fights and the after party, but all proceeds will benefit Boys Town.

Griffin’s manager Tom Call says that this is their way of giving back, because they want to set a new standard for how fighters can contribute to their communities.

Call also told MMAWeekly.com independently that more fighters from the Impact Fight Management team would be doing charitable events like this as their bouts approach. Impact Fight Management works with several other high profile fighters including UFC bantamweight stand out Michael McDonald and UFC welterweight David Mitchell.

“It’s not just about entertaining the fans, we have to be proactive in showcasing the true character of our clients and I applaud Tyson for stepping up and setting a new MMA standard. Expect more Impact fighters to follow the same course,” said Call.

Griffin fights at UFC 137 against former WEC fighter Bart Palaszewski in a featherweight bout with the contest ongoing right now. Fans can check out www.TysonGriffin.com for further information or to donate into the raffle.
