Michael Bisping needed to defeat Cung Le to remain a viable contender in the UFC middleweight division, and with a fourth-round TKO of the former Strikeforce champion in today’s UFC Fight Night 48 headliner, he did just that.
Bisping (25-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) used his superior conditioning and offensive output to overwhelm Le (9-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) to pick up one of the most important victories of his UFC career.
“The Count” still feels he can be a title contender at 185 pounds, and the crucial victory over Le in the UFC Fight Pass-streamed main event kept those hopes alive.

Cung Le coming out to RZA and Black Keys was dope, but the RZA track with the Flatbush Zombies was the gem of that soundtrack, for real.—

77 years about to collide between Le-Bisping.—

Bisping loves us, and he's doing this for us. (I'm assuming he was referencing us as he spoke into the camera.)—
Dann Stupp (@DannStupp) August 23, 2014
Le's got the logo for Saigon Sports Club on his shorts which is a huge state of the art MMA gym in Saigon. Very impressive facility.—

Cung Le looks the more relaxed fighter but Bisping has got the moves too.—

Le is bleeding. Also he can't open his right eye. Seems like he was accusing Bisping of poking him. Need to see replay. Bisping gaining mo'.—
Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) August 23, 2014
Le busted open now. Goldie confirms via the truck that it was a punch, not a poke, that nailed Le in the eye.—

No way they're going to let Le continue after this round. His eye is quickly swelling.—
Dann Stupp (@DannStupp) August 23, 2014
Le is a mess. At this point, can't even blame him for low blows. He can only guess at where Bisping's groin is.—
Ben Fowlkes (@benfowlkesMMA) August 23, 2014
Cung Le is bleeding all over the shop, unless his corner can't work miracles with the cut, it's a matter of when, not if, this gets stopped.—

20-18 Bisping—

Weird ending to that round.—

Man I thought @CungLe185 would be backing away in this 3rd but he's being aggressive. He's tough as fuck. #UFCMacao #BothEyesSwollen—
Yves Edwards (@thugjitsumaster) August 23, 2014
Cung Le has ZERO defense/counter-offense. High volume strikers like Bisping just eat that up.—
RJ Clifford (@RJcliffordMMA) August 23, 2014
30-27 Bisping after three. The pace is eating up Cung Le.—

Jeremy Botter (@jeremybotter) August 23, 2014
Michael Bisping comes thru in a must-win spot. Finish of Cung Le is particularly useful. Volume, accuracy there all night.—
Jon Anik (@Jon_Anik) August 23, 2014
Five-rounders rule. Bisping just needed those few extra seconds to go from "won a fun slugfest on points" to "wasted Le with a Tekken combo"—
Jordan Breen (@jordanbreen) August 23, 2014
It didn't pay to cheat for once, good start to the day.—
