Troy “Rude Boy” Mandaloniz released by the UFC

The UFC’s recent string of roster trimmings continued this past weekend, with season six veteran of The Ultimate Fighter Troy Mandaloniz the latest to be dropped from the UFC’s active roster.

The news comes courtesy of a report on BJPenn.com, the official site for UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn.

Mandaloniz suffered a unanimous decision loss against Paul Kelly this past Saturday at the O2 Arena in London, England during UFC 95. The defeat dropped his lifetime record in the UFC to 1-1 and his overall MMA record to 3-2.

The fight vs. Kelly was considered to be exciting by many pundits, but was apparently not enough to keep Mandaloniz from being cut.

“I thought I showed them what I was made of, but I guess not,” Mandaloniz is quoted as saying on BJPenn.com. “I don’ think I see too many other fighters out there fighting with the same passion and intensity that I bring.”

Mandaloniz joins a list of fighters recently cut by the UFC that includes Eddie Sanchez, Christian Wellisch, Matt Arroyo, Rich Clementi, Nate Mohr, Reese Andy, Derek Downey, and Luigi Fioravanti.
