Tom Niinimaki vs. Chas Skelly added to UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa

Featherweights Tom Niinimaki (21-6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Chas Skelly (11-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) have agreed to meet in August at UFC Fight Night 49.

UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.

UFC Fight Night 49 takes place Aug. 23 at Tulsa, Okla.’s BOK Center. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Niinimaki vs. Skelly is likely to be a part of the preliminary card.

Niinimaki recently was on a 12-fight winning streak, which included a UFC-debut win over Rani Yahya via split decision, as well as non-UFC victories over Chase Beebe and Walel Watson. However, in his most recent appearance, the 31-year-old Finnish fighter suffered a submission loss to Niklas Backstrom at UFC Fight Night 41.

Skelly also looks to rebound from a recent defeat. After posting an 11-0 start to his career, which included a 3-0 mark in Bellator and a pair of Legacy FC wins, the 29-year-old former collegiate wrestler made his UFC debut and suffered a majority-decision loss to Mirsad Bektic at UFC on FOX 11.

The latest UFC Fight Night 49 card includes:

• Thiago Alves vs. Jordan Mein
• Timothy Elliott vs. Wilson Reis
• Tom Niinimaki vs. Chas Skelly
