Some will be surprised, many will not, but news if flooding in about former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz, entering into discussions with UFC management about a new deal that would see the star make a remarkable u-turn.
According to reports on dailydaytonnews.com, Ortiz is said to be in “formal negotiations” with a number of mma promotions including, Affliction, EliteXC, American Fight League and surprise, surprise, the UFC.
“I don't know if we're really negotiating, or simply helping Tito stroke his giant ego,” one frustrated company representative said.
It is understood that, although losing his last fight in May, against Lyoto Machida, Ortiz picked up $900,000, a figure no other organisation would be able to match. Despite a current unsuccessful streak in the Octagon and an ensuing feud with President Dana White, the UFC are keen to retain the controversial stars services, in order to prevent other promotions potentially profiting from his fan base.
