Thiago Silva vs. Ovince St. Preux added to UFC Fight Night 35 in Georgia

thiago-silva-16.jpgA light heavyweight matchup between Brazilian slugger Thiago Silva (16-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) and former  University of Tennessee linebacker Ovince St. Preux (14-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has been added to January’s UFC Fight Night 35 event.

Featuring a middleweight matchup between former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold and Constantinos Philipppou, UFC Fight Night 35 takes place Jan. 15 at Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., outside of Atlanta.

After a difficult three-year stretch that included two losses and a pair of no contests, Silva is now on a two-fight winning streak with victories over Matt Hamill and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. He now fights in the U.S. for the first time since 2011 following recent stops in Brazil, China and Sweden.

Meanwhile, St. Preux has followed an impressive 5-1 run in Strikeforce with back-to-back wins in the UFC’s octagon. Most recently, he scored a knockout win over Cody Donovan to go along with his April decision win over Gian Villante.

With the addition of the new bout, the UFC Fight Night 35 card now includes:

  • Constantinos Philippou vs. Luke Rockhold
  • Cole Miller vs. Sam Sicilia
  • T.J. Dillashaw vs. Mike Easton
  • Thiago Silva vs. Ovince St. Preux
