'The Ultimate Fighter: Canada vs. Australia' reportedly in the works

dana-white-sean-shelby-joe-silva.jpgAfter splitting a pair of tournaments with the U.K. on “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes,” it appears Australia will next tangle with Canada on an upcoming international edition of the UFC’s long-running reality series.

According to a report on FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight,” “TUF: Team Canada vs. Team Australia” is expected later this year.

Few details were confirmed, though tryouts are expected to take place in the next few months.

Aside from “TUF: Brazil,” “TUF: The Smashes” has been the only other international edition of the reality show. Australian welterweight Robert Whittaker and English lightweight Norman Parke won their respective tournaments on the show, which began airing this past September and concluded in December with a live event.

UFC officials have long hinted at additional international “TUF” editions, and Canada often has been mentioned as a likely participant. In late 2012, UFC executive Tom Wright told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) it would likely come in 2013.

“TUF” first debuted in 2005 and has launched the careers of nearly 200 UFC fighters. “TUF: Brazil” marked the first international edition of the show and debuted in early 2012. A second season is currently airing in Brazil.
