LAS VEGAS – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was on scene for today’s official fighter weigh-ins for The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, where all 26 competitors successfully made weight for Saturday’s card.
Bantamweights Urijah Faber (27-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) and Scott Jorgensen (14-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) meet in the main event. The two have been friends for years, dating back to their collegiate wrestling days. Each came in on target before a friendly face-off.
In the co-main event, the next “Ultimate Fighter” will be crowned as middleweights Kelvin Gastelum (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Uriah Hall (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) fight for a guaranteed UFC contract. Hall has been called by UFC President Dana White the most dangerous fighter in the history of the reality series.
And in the second women’s fight in UFC history, Miesha Tate (13-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Cat Zingano (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) meet with plenty at stake. The winner advances to a coaching spot on Season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, then will fight Rousey for her title at the conclusion of the show, which will film this summer and begin airing in September.
Friday’s weigh-ins took place at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino’s Hollywood Theatre in Las Vegas. Saturday’s fight card takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center with a main card on FX (9 p.m. ET) following prelims on FUEL TV (7 p.m.) and Facebook (5:30 p.m.).
