There’s been a lot of talk about the UFC doing a stadium event featuring a super-fight as the headliner, but there are only three countries where the UFC would put on such an event, according to UFC president Dana White.

“The three places we could do a stadium fight is Canada, the United States, or Brazil.  Those are the three places we could do it, and it would depend on the fight,” said White recently.

In the U.S., Cowboys Stadium has been eyed by the UFC since 2010. When talks of an Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre mega-match swirled around late last year, Cowboys Stadium was the targeted venue.

In Brazil, the venue doesn’t matter that much, the UFC is confident they could put on an event in any stadium there and it be a success.

“We’re confident if we held an event in any stadium in Brazil, it would be a success,” said UFC executive Marshall Zelaznik during the UFC 153 pre-fight press conference last year in Rio de Janeiro.

The UFC has already done a stadium in Canada.  On April 30, 2011, the Rogers Centre hosted UFC 129 and set MMA attendance and gate records in North America with 55,724 spectators and a $12.075 million gate.

The possible stadium venues in Canada include the Rogers Centre in Toronto.  There’s also the BC Place in Vancouver that sports a retractable roof similar to the Rogers Centre.  BC Place seats slightly more than the Rogers Centre by roughly 800 seats.

The biggest stadium that could host a UFC event in Canada is Olympic Stadium in Montreal.  The Kevlar roofed stadium has a seating capacity of more than 66,000.

As White said, a stadium event would depend on the fight.  The UFC 129 event at the Rogers Centre was headlined by Canada’s Georges St-Pierre.  Anderson Silva headlining a stadium event in Brazil is the obvious choice if the UFC were to do one there.

In the U.S., the market is a bit different.  It would take a superfight to sell out Cowboy Stadium.  It would take a George St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva type of match up or Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones.
