The Speed Bag: Think about what you just said, Jon Jones

Jon Jones recently admitted he was “a little bit offended” by the latest UFC 182 promo, which revealed some cutting behind-the-scenes remarks by the UFC light heavyweight champion. Ben Fowlkes wonders how exactly that’s possible.

In the now-famous 154-second spot, which first aired earlier this month, clips from Jones’ infamous September brawl with UFC 182 opponent Daniel Cormier are played along with highlights from a “hot mic” discussion with both fighters.

Once he had a chance to see the video, Jones admitted he wasn’t necessarily pleased with the work.

“When I first saw it I was a little offended by it,” Jones said on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight.” “That the UFC, someone who’s supposed to be backing my brand and making me look good, would put up something like that for the general public to see. I don’t think it’s really healthy for the world to see their champion – for the world to see the UFC’s champion – saying I would kill someone, so that really took me off guard.”

But, as Fowlkes explains, Jones is essentially suggesting the world not see the man the champion really is when he thinks the cameras aren’t rolling. Is that OK?

Check it out above.

Jones and Cormier’s UFC 182 contest takes Jan. 3 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
