“The Ultimate Fighter 17? cast member Gilbert Smith (8-3) has replaced kickboxer Cosmo Alexandre (6-1) at this month’s Legacy FC 34 event.

He now takes on fellow welterweight Ben Brewer (7-1).

Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard today confirmed the change with MMAjunkie. According to Maynard, travel issues nixed Alexandre’s participation.

Legacy FC 34 takes place Aug. 29 at Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino in Tunica, Miss. The main card airs live on AXS TV.

After passing through the elimination round to join the “TUF 17? cast, Smith suffered an opening-round loss to Luke Barnatt and then a submission defeat to Robert “Bubba” McDaniel on the preliminary card of the show’s live finale. He subsequently had his contract terminated. However, he rebounded with three straight wins on the regional circuit before a May loss to UFC vet Brian Foster at Titan FC 28.

He now meets Brewer, a recent Bellator MMA competitor who’s posted six consecutive victories, five via stoppage (four via submission). The Legacy FC newcomer most recently scored a second-round knockout of Andy Uhrich in May at Bellator 120.

The latest Legacy FC 34 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (AXS TV, 10 p.m. ET)

  • Brian Hall vs. Pedro Souza
  • Jonathan Brookins vs. Austin Lyons
  • Thomas Gifford vs. Wade Johnson
  • Joel Cooper vs. Grady Hurley
  • Ben Brewer vs. Gilbert Smith
  • Bobby Taylor vs. William Walker

PRELIMINARY CARD (Untelevised, 8 p.m. ET)

  • Jason Aldridge vs. Jens Grau
