TUF Nations Finale, Mitch Gagnon vs. Tim Gorman targeted for April 16

mitch-gagnon-ufc-152The live finale for the upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter Nations” reality/competition show, which features Canadian and Australian teams, and the event’s first fight are slated for April.

The TUF National Finale is slated for April 16, and a bout between Mitch Gagnon (10-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Tim Gorman (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is targeted for the event, according to FOXSports.com. UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement.

Events details weren’t disclosed, but the event is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.

In addition to Gagnon and Gorman, the event will feature the tournament finals for “TUF Nations,” which debuts Jan. 15 on FOX Sports 1 with UFC veterans Patrick Cote (Canada) and Kyle Noke (Australia) serving as head coaches. The show features middleweight and welterweight UFC hopefuls.

Gagnon, a Canadian, looks for his third straight victory. After a UFC-debut loss to Bryan Caraway in mid-2012 (which earned both fighters “Fight of the Night” bonuses), he’s posted submission victories over Walel Watson and Dustin Kimura. Visa issues scrapped a planned bout with Alex Caceres at UFC Fight Night 33 in December.

Gorman won a spot on the “TUF 18? cast this past year but was bounced after the elimination round because of a torn hamstring. Prior to the reality show, the Iowa-based fighter posted an 8-2 pro record. The fighter, whose only career losses came to notables L.C. Davis and Jared Downing, is riding a three-fight winning streak, and he owns seven stoppages (six knockouts) in eight career wins.
