TUF: Live TV Ratings Remain Flat in Week 3

TUF Live LogoThe Ultimate Fighter: Live, the 15th season of the UFC’s venerable reality series, is now three episodes in and the television ratings to this point haven’t been what officials surely hoped for.

TUF: Live week three drew an average audience of 1.2 million viewers, which is dead-on for the season 15 average. Week one pulled in 1.3 million viewers, while week two drew 1.1 million viewers.

More was expected from the series with the move over to the Fox family of networks on FX, coupled with a new jive-live format that features a live fight at the end of every episode.

Many fans on the internet and via social media have voiced their lack of enthusiasm for the show’s Friday night time slot, most indicating that it’s not a good night for staying home to watch television, live fight or no live fight.

UFC president Dana White, however, says that both the UFC and Fox executives are comfortable with the numbers that TUF: Live is drawing so far.

“I didn’t expect to jump on FX and do 3.5 million viewers right out of the gate,” White told MMAJunkie.com recently. “But here’s the thing: The format is awesome. It’s perfect. We’ve got a great season, and we’re going to build this thing.”

TUF: Live is a definite shift away from the previous 14 seasons, which were filmed an edited weeks ahead of airing on television. Under the new jive-live format, footage is shot and edited in between episodes to be a near live experience each week leading up to an actual live fight.

Only time will tell if it catches on enough to take the show to new heights.
