‘TUF 17’ Finale Bonuses: Cat Zingano, Miesha Tate, Travis Browne, Daniel Pineda Earn $50K

Four fighters pocketed post-fight bonuses at “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 17 finale, as Cat Zingano, Miesha Tate, Travis Browne and Daniel Pineda each earned an extra $50,000 for their efforts Saturday night at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Zingano and Tate were awarded “Fight of the Night” honors, while Browne and Pineda earned “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” for their respective finishes of Gabriel Gonzaga and Justin Lawrence. The evening’s main card aired live on FX and was capped by Urijah Faber’s fourth-round submission of Scott Jorgensen in the bantamweight main event.

Tate immediately grabbed the reins of the second women’s bout in UFC history, taking it to Zingano in the early going. However, “Alpha” began to turn the tide late in round two, landing a series of clean shots to her opponent’s face in a trend that would carry over into the third frame. Zingano was relentlessly aggressive in the final stanza, battering Tate with a series of knees against the cage to earn the technical knockout victory and a guaranteed title shot.

Just prior to that exciting affair, Browne made quick work of Gonzaga, stuffing the former title challenger’s takedown attempts with ease before landing a series of sharp elbows to his doubled-over opponent that relieved Gonzaga of his consciousness in just 71 seconds.

Pineda kicked the event off with a dominant win over Lawrence, planting the “TUF 15” alum on his back before locking up a kimura from side control. After cinching his grip and improving his angle, the former Legacy Fighting Championship titlist wrenched Lawrence’s arm behind his back, forcing “The American Kid” to wince in pain as he submitted 1:35 into round one.
