Round 1: Lawler gets Jacare up against the cage early, but Jacare puts him on his back and starts working from side control. Lawler gets up, but is momentarily caught in a standing guillotine. He escapes and eats a right hand from Jacare. But Lawler fires back with a knee, wobbling Jacare and then drives him to the mat with punches. Lawler drops in Jacare’s full guard, where Jacare ties him up. The action slows and referee John McCarthy stands them up where Lawler clips Jacare with a couple more punches, before Jacare shoots for the takedown just before the end of the round. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Lawler.

Round 2: Slow start to the round, but Jacare shoots and takes Lawler down, working up to full mount briefly before Lawler regains half guard. Jacare mounts a ground and pound attack before transitioning to side control. Jacare continues his ground and pound tactics, Lawler finding little answer. Jacare tries to go to mount, gets put back in guard briefly, but then switches to side control on the opposite side. They’re scrambling, Jacare stands and goes for the armbar, but Lawler escapes. Jacare goes for it again and another amazing escape by Lawler, landing in Jacare’s full guard to end the round. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Jacare.

Round 3: Jacare immediately gets the Thai clinch and drives knees to the body of Lawler, who is firing back with punches to the body. Jacare talkes Lawler down, dropping into his half guard, pressing Lawler to the cage. Jacare gets Lawler’s back, locking on the body triangle and rear naked choke, submitting him midway through the second round. Jacare alligator crawls across the mat in celebration.
