UFC programming may be leaving Spike TV for Fox Networks in
2012, but the world’s largest promotion will continue to appear on
Spike in the coming year.
Spike TV announced Tuesday that the Viacom-owned brand will launch
a new Friday night series debuting on March 2 featuring “the
greatest episodes from the 14 seasons of ‘The Ultimate
Running from 9 p.m. to midnight, “The Ultimate Fighter Fridays”
will air directly opposite new episodes of “TUF,” which will be
broadcast on Fox-owned cable station FX.
According to the official release, Spike will consider input from
fans via Facebook and Twitter prior to airing “special-themed”
editions of the series.
The UFC has broadcast 14 seasons of “The Ultimate Fighter” on
Spike, wrapping up the most recent installment on Dec. 3 with a
live showdown between coaches Michael
Bisping and Jason Miller
“TUF 14” finale in Las Vegas.
While Season 14 was the first to feature featherweight and
bantamweight contestants, Season 15 on FX will showcase the world’s
top-two 135-pound talents as coaches. Dominick
Cruz and Urijah Faber
will coach opposite each other before squaring off for Cruz’s
bantamweight belt at a to-be-named 2012 event.
