Missouri-based promotion ShoFight will host its first professional card on June 16, showcasing a pair of title fights between ex- UFC talents.

Shamar Bailey and Karo Parisyan will square off for the vacant welterweight strap in the ShoFight 20 headliner, while Kendall Grove will take on Terry Martin for the vacant middleweight championship in the co-main event. The show takes place at the O’Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University in Springfield, Mo., and is expected to air on pay-per-view.

The event will also see ex-UFC talent Drew Fickett lock horns with onetime Strikeforce competitor Jonatas Novaes. Additionally, former Pride Fighting Championships talent Charles Bennett will toe the line against Chris McDaniel, while Octagon vets Aaron Rosa and Mike Wessel collide. The card will also feature appearances by Roli Delgado, Matt Lucas, Karen Darabedyan, Marcus Aurelio, Lyle Beerbohm and Shonie Carter, among others.

A veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13, Bailey has lost six of his last eight fights. The 29-year-old was bounced from the UFC after suffering back-to-back defeats to Evan Dunham and Danny Castillo last year. Though the Integrated Fighting Academy representative rebounded with a victory over Darrell Smith to kick off 2012, he suffered losses in each of his last two outings, stumbling against both Josh Shockley and Lucas Pimenta Borges in March.

Parisyan was formerly regarded as one of the UFC’s top welterweight contenders, but “The Heat” has cooled down in recent times. The Californian’s most recent run with the Las Vegas-based promotion resulted in a single Octagon appearance in 2010, as Parisyan was knocked out by fellow veteran Dennis Hallman at UFC 123. Following that loss, the judoka dropped bouts to Ryan Ford and Jordan Smith in 2011. However, Parisyan recently rebounded from the trio of defeats to outpoint Thomas Denny on March 31 at Worldwide Mixed Martial Arts 1.

The UFC was busy Wednesday evening with UFC Fight Night 45. It was a great night of bouts, but now we must make the quick turnaround to UFC Fight Night 46 in Ireland.
The card, which is headlined by Conor McGregor and Diego Brandao, features plenty of prospects and foreign fighters who should entertain. The prelims in particular feature a ton of up-and-coming talent, most of whom come from Europe.
