Sergio Pettis vs. Jeff Curran headlines RFA 8 on June 21, airs on AXS TV

Sergio Pettis (7-0) could take a big step up the flyweight rankings when he meets recent UFC bantamweight Jeff Curran (33-15-1) in the championship headliner of Resurrection Fighting Alliance 8 on June 21.

The organization recently announced a solid lineup for the card, including the Pettis vs. Curran main event, which awards the winner the inaugural RFA flyweight title.

RFA 8 takes place at The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, and the main card airs on AXS TV.

Pettis, the 19-year-old younger brother of upcoming UFC title challenger Anthony Pettis, turned pro in late 2011. After a 4-0 amateur run, he’s won all seven of his pro bouts, which included a decision victory over Jimmy Jones at RFA 4.

Curran, meanwhile, recently spoke to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and said he hopes he can get one final shot in the UFC by dropping to the 125-pound division. After a 4-1 un in organizations such as Strikeforce and Bellator, Curran rejoined the UFC in 2011 but suffered losses to Scott Jorgensen and Johnny Eduardo, which prompted his release. They remain his two most recent performances.

Also announced for the RFA 8 main card are featherweight champion Jared Downing (10-1) vs. Lance Palmer (5-0), bantamweights Keoni Koch (5-0) vs. Pedro Munhoz (7-0), welterweights Mike Rhodes (4-1) vs. Benjamin Smith (6-1), featherweights James Barber (2-0) vs. Chinzo Machida (1-2), and featherweights Dan Moret (4-0) vs. Jose Pacheco (7-3).

In addition to Pettis, Chinzo Machida (Lyoto Machida) and Keoni Koch (Erik Koch) have brothers who compete in the UFC.
