Sergio Pettis vs. Chris Kelades slated for UFC 197 in Las Vegas

Although former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis recently said he wouldn’t again be sharing a card with his younger brother, it looks like they’ll do it again at UFC 197.

Sergio Pettis (13-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is slated to fight fellow flyweight Chris Kelades (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 197.

UFC officials announced the bout following an initial report from metronews.ca.

UFC 197 takes place April 23 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Pettis recently scored a unanimous-decision victory over former title challenger Chris Cariaso. The 22-year-old Roufusport fighter is now 3-1 over his past four fights. All of the wins, which came at flyweight and bantamweight, have come via decision. The loss came to Ryan Benoit at UFC 185, which is where the elder Pettis lost the belt.

The younger Pettis now meets Kelades, a 35-year-old Canadian and former Bellator fighter who beat Paddy Holohan and picked up a “Fight of the Night” bonus in his 2014 promotional debut. After a subsequent submission loss to Ray Borg, he recently rebounded with a split-decision win over Chris Beal in August.
