With its move from pay-per-view to Spike TV following the injury withdrawal of Tito Ortiz, Saturday’s Bellator 106 card has gotten a small shakeup.
The event now features five main-card fights on Spike TV, which follow five prelims that stream on Spike.com.
Bellator 106 takes place at Long Beach Arena in California. With Ortiz out due to a neck fracture, Bellator officials canceled his bout with fellow ex-UFC champ Quinton Jackson and scrapped plans for what would have been its first PPV offering.
However, a championship tripleheadliner is now slated for free TV. The new headliner features a title fight and rematch between lightweight champion Michael Chandler (12-0 MMA, 9-0 BMMA) and former titleholder Eddie Alvarez (24-3 MMA, 8-1 BMMA).
Other title fights include featherweight champion Pat Curran (19-4 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) vs. Daniel Straus (21-4 MMA, 7-1 BMMA), as well as an Emanuel Newton (21-7-1 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) vs. Muhammed Lawal (11-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) rematch that earns the winner an interim light-heavyweight title.
Rounding out the main card is the “Fight Master” tournament final between Joe Riggs (39-14 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) and Mike Bronzoulis (15-5-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), as well as featherweights Mike Richman (15-3 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) vs. Akop Stepanyan (13-6 MMA, 1-3 BMMA).
A Season 9 heavyweight tournament final between Cheick Kongo (19-8-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and Vinicius Queiroz (7-3 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) has been pulled from the main card, and lightweights Terry Etim (15-5 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) vs. Patrick Cenoble (9-2-1 MMA, 0-0-1 BMMA) and welterweights Karo Parisyan (22-10 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) vs. Cristiano “Soldier Boy” Souza (6-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) have been scrapped from the preliminary card. They’ll me moved to future cards.
The official Bellator 106 card includes:
MAIN CARD (Spike TV, 9 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com, 7 p.m. ET)
