Rocha vs. Pierce, Roberts vs. Magalhaes First Fights Confirmed for UFC on FX 3

The first fights for the as of yet unannounced UFC on FX 3 card are starting to trickle out with two bouts confirmed for the show.

First up, welterweight Mike Pierce will make his return to action on the card currently rumored for June 8 against Carlos Eduardo Rocha.

Rocha announced the fight via his Facebook page on Monday.

Rocha has been out of action since his loss to current welterweight title contender Jake Ellenberger at UFC 126 in Feb 2011, but now he’s returning and facing Mike Pierce, who looks to get back on the winning track after his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 137.

The other fight confirmed for the UFC on FX 3 card is a bout between two UFC newcomers as Buddy Roberts will meet Caio Magalhaes.

The fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the match-up on Tuesday. MMAJunkie.com initially reported the bout.

Both Roberts and Magalhaes were scheduled to fight earlier this year, but opponent issues prevented each of them from actually competing. Roberts opponent Sean Loeffler injured his ankle just minutes before their scheduled bout at UFC on Fuel 1 in February, while Magalhaes’ opponent Fabio Maldonado dropped out of their fight at UFC 140 in January, leaving him without a fight.

Now the two fighters will face each other instead.

While there’s been no confirmation about the UFC on FX 3 card outside of the fact that it’s taking place, current dates have the show landing on June 8.

No venue or location has been confirmed yet for the UFC on FX 3 show, but MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the show when it becomes available.
