November’s UFC Fight Night 101 fight card has its latest fight for the “Land Down Under.”
Canada’s Jonathan Meunier (7-1 MmA, 0-1 UFC) will venture into enemy territory to take on Australia’s Richard Walsh (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in Melbourne. Promotion officials today announced the new booking following an initial report from The Daily Telegraph.
UFC Fight Night 101 takes place Nov. 26 (Nov. 27 in Australia) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The event airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Walsh, a product of the “TUF: Nations” season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” won his UFC debut with a decision victory over Chris Indich at the TUF Nations Finale in April 2014. After back-to-back losses to Kiichi Kunimoto and Alan Jouban, the Aussie rebounded with a decision win over Steve Kennedy in Melbourne this past November. After a loss to Viscardi Andrade in March in his home country, he’ll be hoping for a rebound against Meunier.
Meunier made his UFC debut in June in his home country, but was submitted 54 seconds into the third round by Colby Covington at UFC Fight Night 89 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. That snapped the perfect 7-0 start to his career that got him the invite from the UFC.
