Professional mixed martial artist Ibragim
Todashev, an alleged friend of accused Boston Marathon bomber
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot and killed early Wednesday by an FBI
special agent in Orlando, Fla., according to a report from the Los
Todashev, who was allegedly being interviewed about the April 15
explosions that killed three and wounded 264 others, was reportedly
shot after the meeting turned violent, leaving the agent with
non-life-threatening injuries. According to the report, the FBI is
in the process of reviewing the matter.
Todashev, 27, competed in MMA once as a pro, earning a first-round
submission win last July under the Florida-based Real Fighting
Championships banner. Todashev was reportedly arrested on May 4
and charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm in
Orange County, Fla.
According to the report, it is unclear how well Todashev knew
Tsarnaev, who was killed in a police shootout three days after the
bombing, allegedly carried out in cooperation with Tsarnaev’s
younger brother. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested the day after his
older brother’s death and is currently awaiting trial.
